Class Description

Classes for older children and Teens
These are divided by age and by rank. The students attend two classes per week that are 45 minutes long. There is a strong emphasis on physical and mental development as well as character education, which is so important. They also focus on developing self-confidence and a positive self-image. The S.T.A.R. program along with the Student Creed and 8 Virtues of a Black Belt are taught and discussed regularly.

Classes for Adults
These classes include older teens and adults of all ages who attend two classes per week for 1 hour. They are divided by rank and focus on traditional Uechi Ryu Karate, overall fitness and strength using karate specific drills. We also emphasize the importance of de-stressing. When you enter the dojo, you begin to develop the ability to leave the world behind you and focus on being in the moment. It’s called “Mushin,” which translates to clear mind. Given today’s busy lifestyle, this mental discipline is more difficult than the physical, but at least as important. We not only learn a wonderful style of Martial Arts, but we enjoy a special camaraderie you can only develop in the setting of a dojo. A great time is had by all and you leave class feeling as if you had a workout, but you are refreshed and more relaxed.
